Design and Display Leaks

Apple iPhone 13: Expected Release Date, Price, and Specs in Nigeria

Fortunately, Apple made significant changes to the design of the iPhone 11 and retained that design aesthetics on the iPhone 12 family, and we expect it to continue on the Apple iPhone 13. However, some rumors suggested that Apple is likely to trim down the rear camera bump this year, as well as introduce a matte black option for the Pro models of the handset.

Amazingly, one significant improvement likely to come to the iPhone 13 is the addition of a high refresh rate display. Rumors suggest that Apple might introduce a 120Hz refresh rate that’ll make the display look smoother when scrolling through the images or playing games. Maybe this means that only the two Pro models will have the higher refresh rate, why the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini won’t. Meanwhile, a Korean site – The Elec has retaliated against this and confirmed that Samsung will be the supplier of these 120Hz refresh rate panels.

In fact, there’s a possibility that the iPhone 13 might even get a higher refresh rate, possibly topping at 240Hz which no other phone currently offers. However, we’d take this information with a pinch of salt.

Another screen upgrade we’d expect is the addition of an always-on display. It’s quite unfortunate that Apple is yet to implement this feature as Android smartphones have been offering it for years.

The front notch has been under doubt as many sources claim that it’ll remain the same as iPhone 12, while others suggested it’ll be an all-screen display in 2021. However, what will happen here is quite unclear now, but more reliable sources claim that it’ll be an all-screen display just like most Android phones or it’ll be shrink to the nearest minimum. Similarly, the earpiece is expected to be shifted to the top bezel and the selfie camera now shifted to the left side.

Another leak, but yet interesting feature coming to the iPhone 13 is the introduction of an In-display fingerprint scanner. This is no longer a new feature in Android phones as a lot of manufacturers are used to equipping it in their flagship devices, and Apple is expected to follow suit. In fact, it was expected to debut on the iPhone 12, but the reverse was the case. However, this year, Apple is considering adding it, alongside a Face ID as the iPhone 13’s security options.

Camera Leaks

Iphone 13 Camera Leaks

When it comes to the camera, Ming-Chi Kuo – an industrial analyst has suggested the two iPhone 12 Pro’s ultra-wide lens may be increased to f/1.8 aperture, a six-element lens from the current f/2.4, five-element lens on the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Kuo also suggested that Sunny Optical looks likely to supply the lens. This should probably pave way for lowlight performance and potentially, a shallower depth of field.

An analyst from Barclays claims that there would be a change in an aperture on the four iPhone 13 models and they could probably get the same telephoto lens as the iPhone 12 Pro Max, but with higher 2.5x optical zoom. However, Kuo suggested that the telephoto camera will get the same six-element upgrade to the ultra-wide one on the two Pro models.

Meanwhile, some rumors are suggesting that Apple is looking forward to adding a periscope camera to the iPhone 13 family. Probably, this would pave way for a wider zoom range than the iPhone 12s, and maybe could get up to 10x optical zoom. However, Kuo suggested differently that we should not expect it until 2023.

There are reports that all iPhone 13 models might get a LiDAR scanner, which is only available on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The same source suggested that the iPhone 13 family will probably get sensor-shift optical image stabilization (OIS), which is only available on the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Specs and Battery Leaks

Iphone 13 Battery Specs

A top leaker – Jon Prosser has said that 2021 may be the introduction of 1TB storage iPhones. That’s the only storage size we haven’t seen on iPhone yet as the iPhone 12 model’s storage capacity only stopped at 512GB. If this information is correct, then the iPhone 13 would probably be the most expensive iPhone ever. Also, should this claim be true, you’re getting a pretty huge amount of space on your handset for files, apps, photos, videos, and more. However, this improvement would be more useful to professionals than average users as 512GB is pretty enough if you’re not using the phone for any professional job.

Many rumors suggested that iPhone would be going portless in 2021. Apple might be the first company to has done that, meaning that the handset will only use wireless charging. This rumor was suggested by many sources, but most of them claims that only the iPhone 13 Pro Max will go portless.

As for the battery, the expert analyst; Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that Apple might shift to soft board technology, meaning that the batteries would be physically smaller without reducing its capacity. Also, Kuo claims that the Apple iPhone 13 might feature an improved battery capacity, which is likely to be true as Apple constantly improves the iPhone battery on each model. Meanwhile, some leaks suggested that the iPhone 13 would feature a protective charging mode, meaning the phone would stop charging once full even if you leave it plugged in.

Of course, performance should be boosted as it normally has been for years. However, there have been some rumors suggesting that Apple is ready to deploy an advanced vapor cooling chamber which we expect to debut on the Apple iPhone 13, or we might have to wait to see it on iPhone 14. Meanwhile, there have some leaks suggesting that the Bionic A15 chipset is expected to power the iPhone 13 and will enter mass production by the end of May. Also, there are claims that it’s going to be a 5nm chipset, which is the same size as the A14, possibly meaning we won’t be seeing that massive significant boost in performance.

Fortunately, 5G is expected to continue in 2021 iPhones of course. However, Apple is expected to be switching to either mmWave or sub-6 devices, allowing it to save money. This means that if your country is not supporting mmWave technology yet, then you’ll have to buy the sub-6 version. The Apple iPhone 12 features both versions of the 5G technology, but we expect the mmWave technology to be widely available on the iPhone 13 than they were on iPhone 12.

Apple iPhone 13: What will the new iPhone be called

Unfortunately, there have been some rumors circulating, saying that the new iPhone won’t be called iPhone 13 and there are few reasons to back it up.

For one thing, some leaks suggest that this coming iPhone could feature a relatively minor upgrade, coming with a similar design, slight camera, and performance improvements. However, the only big change rumored to becoming is a 120Hz panel, but not all models would be getting it anyways.

With these few points, Apple might decide to call the 2021 models iPhone 12s and iPhone 12s Pro range. While the ‘S’ hasn’t been used for the past few years since the debut of the iPhone SE in 2019, it’s likely Apple is ready to use it again this year.

However, Apple might decide to continue with the iPhone 13 line, proving some people right as we would love to see another continuation of the popular Apple iPhone number range.

Fortunately, as we’re getting over the pandemic, an Apple insider – Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the iPhone 13 should return to the normal September release date in 2021.
