On the contrary, if you have a more outdated version like the Series 3 or Series 2, you might consider going for the upgraded model.

The newly added features on the latest Series 6 include new four color options; good stainless steel, graphite stainless steel, red aluminum, and the former blue aluminum. Other added features are a blood oxygen monitor (Sp02 tech), a new S6 chip that’s now faster, and an 18-hour long battery.

Also, the Series 6 is equipped with an always-on altimeter, meaning the watch can keep tabs on the altitude at which you’re running, jogging, jumping, or even climbing. It helps to give you a more accurate activity level.

The Apple Watch Series 5 was the America-based company’s relentless struggle to be the head of the smartwatch pack. The model takes everything that made the Series 4 so good and added few features to make it top the European market.

One of the few new features that made this watch great is an always-on screen display. This means you don’t have to go through the hassle of raising your wrist for the screen to show something. Also, there’s new software, though they’re small but notable and well-deserved improvements.

This is not the latest smartwatch from Apple, and it has been replaced by the latest Series 6, but if you can’t afford to buy the newest model, we’d thoroughly recommend the Apple Watch Series 5.

Display: 1.57″ / 1.78″ OLED | OS: WatchOS 7 | Compatibility: iOS | Processor: Apple S4 | Onboard storage: 16GB | Battery duration: Up to 18 hours | Charging method: Wireless | IP Rating: 50m | Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, LTE | Price in Nigeria: ₦175,000 ($440)

On the outer side, the Apple Watch Series 4 is sexier than the Series 3 but slightly below the Series 5. Also, it has a 30% larger screen and nicely curved edges that makes it more rounded. Similar to other Apple Watches, the Series 4 has a Digital Crown which allows users to scroll without any obstruction.

However, there are new changes beyond the watch’s exterior decoration. Before newer models, the Series 4 is Apple’s best and most powerful watch with a new S3 chip.

Also, there’s an inbuilt speaker that’s 50% louder providing a strong audio quality for the Siri function. All these amazing changes added with an 18-hour long battery duration makes the Series 4 one of the best fitness tracker from Apple.

Among other features include brand new fitness and health capabilities. On the back, there’s an optical heart sensor with ECG capability. While the Apple Watch Series 4 has proven to be pretty handy for runners, it’s more flexible and light-weighted to also serve as a casual watch.

Display: 1.53″ / 1.65″ OLED | OS: WatchOS 7 | Compatibility: iOS | Processor: Apple S3 | Onboard storage: 8GB / 16GB (Non-LTE and LTE respectively) | Battery duration: Up to 18 hours | Charging method: Wireless | IP Rating: 50m | Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, LTE | Price in Nigeria: ₦143,000 ($360)

The Apple Watch Series 3 may not have the best features as the newest counterparts, but it offers some serious bang at a very cheap price. Despite being smaller, it still sports the same water-resistant level and optical heart rate sensor as others. This makes the Series 3 perform all the exercise and health functions, but with an absence of the latest apps.

The Series 3 is equipped with Apple’s Activity Ring that shows your daily movement and lets you track your exercise at ease. Also, you can download tons of compatible health apps too.

The cellular version of the Series 3 allows you to make a call without your phone just like the newer models. Also, you can send and receive messages through Siri, download and stream your favorite songs, thanks to the 16GB onboard storage, and use emergency SOS if the need arises.

Of course, you’ll experience some drawbacks while using the older model. For example, the S3 processor isn’t as fast as S4, though it won’t be a problem for those using it only as a fitness tracker. On the aesthetics side, the Series 3 lacks the gold hardware option and isn’t as complex as other newer models. However, the Apple Watch Series 3 offers the basic features of a fitness tracker but lacks the latest high-tech apps. This means that some apps using the electrical sensor may not work.

Moving down is the Apple Watch Series 2. This model was among the first to be released after Series 1 in 2016. Though it’s getting a bit old, it’s very cheap with lots of built-in functions.

Fortunately, the Apple Series 2 still has all the main watch features covered including a nice selection of apps, notifications, fitness features, and compatible with all the other watch straps, chargers, docks, and accessories.

Also, there’s a built-in GPS, but without a cellular option. Unfortunately, the Apple Watch Series 2 struggles in processing power, battery life, water-resistant and durability. However, you can choose to go for this model if you’re on a budget, or still unsure whether you’ll like a smartwatch.
