Infinix Hot 8: Design and Display
Upfront, the Infinix Hot 8 could be confused for other Android phones with teardrop notches. The teardrop notch houses the selfie camera along with the LED flash hidden at the top bezels. The selfie camera can also be used as a biometric along with the fingerprint sensor at the rear side. The LED flash doubles up as a charging indicator but it would be found missing on the notification light.
As with other flagship smartphones, the Infinix Hot 8 comes in Ice Blue, Purple, Milan Black, and Berlin Grey color options. The Infinix latest Hot device is an absolute shocker to be sold for this cheap price tag. The wonderful paint job and the plastic finish gave the phone a great feel. Unfortunately, the back scratches easily, so you’ll have to use the provided case in the box for longer-lasting.
One thing that will amaze you about the Infinix Hot 8 design is that the volume rocker and power button are well-positioned. On the left side, you’ll find the dual SIM tray, along with a dedicated microSD slot. The headphone jack, speaker grill, and MicroUSB USB port are situated on the bottom.
The Infinix Hot 8 featured a rectangular camera module housing the triple rear sensors and a fingerprint sensor. The back is perfectly curved to ensure a better grip and a one-hand device operation. Unfortunately, the phone weighs heavily courtesy of its huge battery.
Coming to the display, the Infinix Hot 8 rocks a massive 6.52-inches teardrop notch HD+ display with a 720×1600 pixels resolution and 90.8 percent screen-to-body ratio. The phone offers decent 450nits bright colors and amazing viewing angles so reading in sunlight won’t be a problem. The Infinix Hot 8 has one of the best displays we have ever seen on this price segment.
Infinix Hot 8: Camera
The Infinix Hot 8 sports a massive camera upgrade than it’s predecessors. The Infinix Hot 8 triple rear camera set-up consisting of a 13-MP primary camera with f/1.8 lens, 2-MP depth sensor, and a dedicated low light sensor. The Infinix Hot 8 has similar camera hardware to that of Infinix Smart 3 plus.
The selfie camera is well handled with an 8-MP front camera with an f/2.0 aperture lens. The Infinix Hot 8 has different camera modes such as HDR, Bokeh, AR Shot, AI Camera, Video Live Filter, Panorama, and Wide Selfie. The camera performance on the Infinix Hot 8 is quite amazing for this price tag. The quality of your photos will sometimes depend on the ambient light conditions you’re in.
Infinix Hot 8: Performance and Battery Capacity
The Infinix Hot 8 is powered by a mid-range MediaTek Helio P22 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage. The phone will handle regular tasks and games efficiently but you will find it lagging and frustrating when playing high-end games or launching multiple apps at the same time.
However, the MediaTek Helio P22 processor is a decent performer as long as you stick to its limits. Small tasks such as social media usage, web browsing, watching movies will work fine, but once there’s more than seven games or apps running in the background, you’ll find the phone hanging.
The Infinix Hot 8 is created not for people who play heavy games like PMGB or run multiple apps at the same time. Heavy games and apps normally take time to load, and there are casual cases of the UI freezing too. If you want a phone for normal day-to-day tasks, the Infinix Hot 8 is the best option for you, but in terms of heavy gamings like Asphalt 9 or PUBG, you should look elsewhere.
The Infinix Hot 8 runs on a skin known as XOS 5.0 based on Android 9 Pie. Unfortunately, it has a similar UI to that of the former Infinix Hot 7 and Infinix Smart 3 Plus. However, XOS 5.0 does a great job by offering a customizable widget from where you can access your previously used apps or games.
Coming to the battery, it’s no longer new news that recent smartphones features massive battery capacity. The Infinix Hot 8 comes with a strong 5000mAh battery capacity that can serve all your smartphone battery needs. The phone can last more than a day on normal usage such as web browsing, casual gaming, phone calls, listening to music, checking your news feed on social media, and lots more.
Infinix Hot 8: Price and Availability
The Infinix Hot 8 appears to offer an absolute performance for just ₦55,000 ($144). The phone was launched in September 04, 2019 and it’s already available for purchase at any leading online store, slots, or shops nationwide.
Unfortunately, despite packing a 4G RAM, the phone still struggles on high-end tasks. The likes of Xiaomi Redmi 9C, Oppo Realme 3i, and Redmi 7 will give you a faster processor while offering at the same price tag. However, the phone’s general performances are great provided you’re not running multi apps and playing heavy games. If the camera is your primary priority and you won’t mind having all these performance limitations, the Infinix Hot 8 will be your perfect choice.
