Design
At first glance, you’ll mistake the F15 for Huawei P30 Pro as they both share similar design qualities. The Oppo F15 has dual colors of Lightening Black and Unicorn White, but we found the latter more captivating because of its precious unicorn skin. However, you can opt for the Lightening Black variant if you’re not a fan of bright tones.
Undoubtedly, Oppo is among the best brands when it comes to making impressive yet attractive smartphones, and the F15 is no exception. The latest handset from the company is constructed from strong plastic material with a metallic frame in the middle. Fortunately, the F15 is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Meanwhile, the build-up quality is premium and has a flagship-like design more than other smartphones in this segment. Also, the bezels surrounding the screen have been reduced to ensure an immersive wider viewing experience. When holding the phone, you’ll easily notice its lightness at 172g and the sleek dimension paves way for a more comfortable handgrip.
There’s a teardrop notch on the front panel while at the back is a vertically arranged quad-camera set-up that slightly protrudes and adds to the appealing design of the smartphone. Moving down the camera bump is an inscribed ‘Oppo’ branding logo that signifies its ownership of the device.
The volume rockers are positioned on the right side of the phone while the power button is on the left. Fortunately, there’s a presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack unlike most flagship devices, and it’s located on the bottom, alongside the USB port, and speaker grills. Meanwhile, besides the volume keys are dedicated SDcard slot and dual-SIM slot positioned perfectly on the upper left side of the handset.
Display
Owing to the trend of bigger screen smartphones, the Oppo F15 has a 6.4-inch FHD+ (1080 × 2400 pixels) AMOLED display with a 90.7% screen-to-body ratio and 20:9 aspect ratio. Undoubtedly, the Oppo F15 display quality looks great with enough color brightness, punchy colors, vivid display, and great viewing angle.
Oppo equipped the F15 with multiple screen modes that are easy to customize. With ColorOS 6 UI, the company provided a couple of screen modes that reduce eye strain when using the phone at maximum brightness. The Oppo F15 has Night mode and Low Brightness Flicker-Free Eye Care mode. Also, it has an in-display fingerprint and touch ID as its security options.
Cameras
The Oppo F15 comes with a rear quad-camera set-up which consists of a 48-MP primary shooter, 8-MP ultra-wide lens, 2-MP monochrome lens, and 2-MP depth sensor. Also, it comes with several camera-enhancing modes like AI scene recognition, Panorama, HDR, Google lens, Stickers, Slow motion, Nightscape, Beauty option, Night portrait modes, and more. Fortunately, there’s an anti-shake technology that uses EIS software to keep the camera focus firm.
In perfect lighting conditions, the 48-MP main sensor can comfortably capture nice images with accurate color reproduction, and a good dynamic range. Also, you can easily add a bit of saturation to your photo, thanks to the Dazzle color option that’s similar to the Chroma Boast option.
Fortunately, the F15 camera’s portrait mode works well, at least to some extent. Also, images taking at night look great, thanks to the dedicated night mode, although they’re with a little distortion. To further improve night photos, the F15 cameras use a long exposure method to brighten up the subject.
Turning over to the front panel, the Oppo F15 has a 16-MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The Oppo F15 selfie camera performs great in daylight conditions, at least better than most phones in the segment, but we found it struggling in lowlight scenarios.
Hardware, Performance, and Software
Powering the Oppo F15 is a MediaTek Helio P70 chipset, paired with either 4GB or 8GB of RAM, and Mali G72 MP3 GPU.
On daily usage like multitasking, web browsing, or visiting your various social media accounts, the F15 does really well and you won’t experience any form of heating or lagging. However, when it comes to heavy tasks, the Oppo F15 failed to perform at the best level. Games like PUGB, Asphalt 9, God of War, etc will only play on medium graphics level. Also, there are few instances where you’ll experience some slowdowns while switching between apps and heating after a long period of gaming.
Unless you’ve used an Oppo device before, the ColorOS UI is not something you’ll easily get accustomed to. However, with the pairing of Android 9 (Pie), the smartphone comes with a lot of Google Play Services and customization options you’ll always love to tweak.

Oppo F15: Battery
The Oppo F15 has an average battery life of 4,025mAh with VOOC 3.0 fast charging. When it comes to battery, the F15 didn’t have the best battery on a smartphone but manages to last for half a day on intensive usage, while you can comfortably get up to 48 hours on moderate use.
The VOOC 3.0, although not the fastest, but manages to increase the charging speed of the device. The 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charger powers the Oppo F15 from 0 to 50 in 30 minutes and takes 1 and half hours to charge the phone from empty to 100.
Oppo F15: Price in Nigeria and Availability
The Oppo F15 is a top-notch affordable device primarily regarded because of its cameras. The device was officially launched in Nigeria in January 2020 and has since been available on jumia, jiji, or other top online and offline phone brands in Nigeria.
The Oppo F15 is currently priced at ₦103,000 (roughly $249) for the 4GB of RAM with 128GB storage variant. However, this is the only variant available in Nigeria at the time of this writing, but we would expect the higher 8GB of RAM variant with the same storage option in the upcoming months.
