Samsung Galaxy A71: Full Specification, Features, and Price in Nigeria

Samsung’s exceptional vigor in the mid-range smartphone market continues with the arrival of Galaxy A71 in Nigeria. It’s no secret that this phone is targeted to social media lovers – the younger fans who spend most of their time online, chatting and exchanging videos with friends and family.

Samsung, having seen a boast of sell in it’s re-launched A series last year, where the Galaxy A40 wins the most selling line in Europe and beyond, the South-Korean company is looking forward to double-down in 2020 with the launch of Galaxy A71. The phone was launched a few months after the Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note 10 Lite.

Since then, Samsung has nudged in more budget-friendly options like the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy A71 has seen more process discounts recently and most especially during the Black Friday deals.

With an excellent display, quality cameras, and strong battery life, the Galaxy A71 is undoubtedly the cheapest Samsung phone you can buy currently with these specs. Samsung Galaxy A71: Design and Build-up

When it comes to design, one thing you’ll notice about the phone is the size that can be mistaken for a tablet. A 6.7-inches display, that dominates the entire front panel of the phone with little bezels surrounding it for better handgrip.

The Galaxy A71 comes with Samsung’s Infinity-O display that’s mostly found on mid-range devices and from other A series. This means there’s a punch-hole cutout for the camera on top of the phone’s display. The small hole sits in the notification corner which keeps it out of the main view, to avoid obstructing your phone activities.

Moving to the rear panel, there’s a rectangular camera module stack in the upper left corner with “Samsung” branding logo in the middle. The front is constructed from Gorilla Glass 3 while the back is made from shiny plastic which can be mistaken for glass if not for the unpleasant dull thud it makes when tapped upon. Meanwhile, one thing we don’t like about gloss finish is the non-fingerprints and smudge resistance.

The top of the phone features a SIM slot, while the headphone jack, USB-C charging port, and speaker grill sit on the bottom. Unlike other phones, the left side is bare, with the power/Bixby button and volume rocker well positioned on the right for easy reach.

You can buy the Samsung Galaxy A71 in color ranges of black, silver, blue, and pink. Unfortunately, there’s no IP rating, which means you won’t get any form of water or spill-resistant, unlike other Samsung and Apple phones.

Samsung Galaxy A71: Display

Shifting to the display, the Samsung Galaxy A71 comes with a 6.7-inches Super AMOLED Plus panel display which delivers a stunningly bright, and colorful punch. Also, the Galaxy A71 has a Full HD+ resolution which provides a wide viewing experience for memorable movie streaming and gaming sessions.

Just like the Galaxy A70, there’s an optical in-display fingerprint sensor with another security option of face recognition as well.

Samsung Galaxy A71: Camera Review

One of the big points of the Samsung Galaxy A71 is its cameras. It features the same 32-MP front-facing camera as Galaxy A70. But unlike its predecessor, the Galaxy A71 selfie camera produces high-quality and well-detailed shots even in lowlight conditions.

Round the back, the Galaxy A71 features a 64-MP main shooter, 12-MP ultra-wide camera, 5-MP macro sensor, and another 5-MP depth sensor. Photos taken with Samsung Galaxy A71 cameras are bright, well-detailed, and excellent, especially in light scenarios. In lowlight shots, the photos aren’t as perfect as it was on lighting conditions. We noticed some noise and lack of focus details, but the Galaxy A71 rear cameras managed to surpass the Google Pixel 4a when it comes to lowlight scenarios.

Also, the portrait was good as you can capture up to 123-degree close-up photos and also blur the background of the image. The depth mapping was smooth and excellent than we thought as most phones of this price range struggle with that.

Samsung Galaxy A71: Hardware, Performance, and Software

The Samsung Galaxy A71 ships in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 chipset with 6GB or 8GB of RAM. There’s also 128GB inbuilt storage with up to 100GB available for usage. You can choose to add up to 1TB SDcard if you aren’t satisfied with the available storage option.

The Samsung Galaxy A71 performance was great for this price range. The phone managed to handle nearly a dozen open tabs without any problem, as well as 25 browser tabs on Chrome Browser without any slowdown.

Heavy games like Alto’s Odyssey, God of War, FIFA 2020, etc didn’t experience any lags or skipped frames. The games use to load faster than we expect and didn’t affect the battery life in any way.

The Samsung Galaxy A71 ships in Android 10 operating system on top of Samsung’s One UI 2.5 user interface. In One UI 2.5, Samsung provides a more customized user experience with reversed navigation buttons and app icons. The settings looked different from normal Androids thereby making it a bit difficult for fans who haven’t used a Samsung smartphone to get used to it.

Samsung Galaxy A71: Battery Capacity

Just like its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy A71 is powered by a 4500mAh battery cell that’ll give even the most demanding user one-day active life. The Samsung Galaxy A71 lasted for 10 hours on our battery test that involves HD video over Wi-Fi at full brightness. Just like other S series devices, the Galaxy A71 supports fast charging protocol with a 25W adapter in the box. Meanwhile, wireless charging isn’t supported, but we hope to see that on newer models.

Samsung Galaxy A71: Price in Nigeria and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy A71 Price in Nigeria is ₦170,000 ($446), making it competitive in the market because of the quality features it’s offering.
