Samsung Galaxy A72 Review: Full Specs, Features, and Price in Nigeria

Samsung after dominating the world with its Galaxy A71 model is set to bring in another brilliant and more specced device – the Samsung Galaxy A72. The Galaxy A72 is the latest mid-range offering from the South-Korea tech giant and adds plenty of value for fans who want a flagship spec at a cheap price.

The Samsung Galaxy A72 sports a lot of upgrades over the former A71. The display is showing at 6.7-inches and with a Super AMOLED Plus panel and 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution. Fortunately, Samsung has retained some of the A71 features including the quad-camera module, alongside a 6/8GB RAM and 128GB built-in storage. However, the battery life has been upgraded to 5000mAh including a 25W fast charger.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy A72 hasn’t been announced yet and our review is based on speculations from tipsters.

Samsung Galaxy A72 Review: Design

On the design side, the phone sports an impressive aesthetics build-up. You’ll mistaken the Galaxy A72 for a tablet because of its large size. There’s a 6.7-inches display just like its predecessor that dominates the entire screen with almost zero bezels surrounding it for a better handgrip. Unfortunately, there’s no curved display like most flagship phones like we earlier expected on this device, but since it’s a budget device, you can’t ask for more.

Similar to A71, Samsung equipped the A72 with its Infinity-O display that’s on other A series. This means the A72 will have a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera on top of the display just like other A lineup. Fortunately, the small hole is positioned on the notification center which prevents it from obstructing the phone’s activities.

to the back, there’s a black rectangular module on the top left corner with a boldly inscribed “Samsung” logo slightly below in the middle. Unfortunately, the A72 gloss finish is not smudged and fingerprint resistant. However, we’re impressed that the Galaxy A72 is now IP67 satisfied water-resistant (can survive up to 1 meter for 30 min). This is one of the key selling points that makes the phone stand out in the competition.

Samsung Galaxy A72 Review: Display

On the display side, the Galaxy A72 sports a massive 6.7-inches Super AMOLED Plus display which delivers a very impressive bright and colorful punch. Fortunately, the Galaxy A72 display shows at FHD+ (1080p) resolution which is big enough for memorable gaming sessions and movie streaming.

Also, Samsung has retained its long-term tradition of equipping the Galaxy A series with an in-display scanner on the A72. However, you can choose to use either the Face ID or password as your security option.

Samsung Galaxy A72 Review: Cameras

One of the big selling points of the Galaxy A lineup is their impressive camera performances. Samsung retained the same 32-MP selfie camera that’s on the Galaxy A70 and A71. However, unlike its predecessors, the Galaxy A72 front-facing camera shoots well-detailed and high-quality shots even in lowlight conditions.

On the rear panel is the same 64-MP primary shooter, alongside an upgraded 12-MP ultra-wide lens, 8-MP telephoto lens, and 5-MP macro sensor. Fortunately, the Galaxy A72 cameras are great, delivering excellent, and well-detailed photos especially in well-lighted environments. However, lowlight shots didn’t impress as we expected. The Galaxy A72 rear camera is still faced with noise and lack of focus we found on its predecessors while in poor lighted environments.

Fortunately, the depth mapping was great, smooth, and excellent than we expected. Unlike other phones of this price, the Galaxy A72 can shoot 4K videos at 30fps, 1080p at either 30/240fps and 1080p at 960fps.

Samsung Galaxy A72 Review: Hardware, Performance, and Software

The Samsung Galaxy A72 ships in an upgraded Snapdragon 760 chipset paired with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. Currently, there are dual built-in storage options of 128GB and 256GB which can all be upgraded via a microSD card.

As usual, the Galaxy A72 performance was great and the best in this range. Interestingly, the phone was able to handle over 20 open tabs on Chrome without any hiccups. Samsung fans who love reading with their phone will be satisfied with the perfect combination of a big display with a Super AMOLED Plus panel.

Game lovers can play all kinds of heavy games including Call of Duty, God of War, FIFA 2020, and others without experiencing any lagging or slowdown. Also, the games now load faster than ever and it doesn’t affect the battery life in any way.

Rollover to the software, the Samsung Galaxy A72 ships in the latest Android 11 OS alongside the new One 3.0 interface. This combination provides a more customized user experience including changing the app icons.

Samsung Galaxy A72 Review: Battery Capacity

Unlike its predecessors, the Samsung Galaxy A72 is equipped with a massive 5000mAh battery cell. This battery life is more than enough to keep any heavy user active for 24 hours. Similarly, the A72 sports a 25W charger in the box. Unfortunately, we’re disappointed with the lack of wireless charging feature we anticipated to see on this model.

Samsung Galaxy A72 Review: Price in Nigeria and Availability

Undoubtedly, the Galaxy A72 is a good choice for every Samsung lover. Despite offering at a cheap price, the phone is equipped with most of the features that are lacking on flagship devices. However, we haven’t confirmed the exact price of the A72 but we expect it to be anywhere around ₦185,000 – ₦211,000 (480-530 USD). Also, the A72 release date hasn’t been confirmed yet, but we’re expecting it anytime soon.
