The Galaxy S10 from Samsung is another smartphone engineered and designed for customers who want to get the latest quality features from South Korea company’s S series device. The Galaxy S10 still remains a powerful and attractive phone even after the S20’S with faster processors, improved cameras, and 5G capability has been launched.
If you don’t need the latest and greatest S series device, the Galaxy S10 remains a top tier device with decent specs and cameras that’ll be a strong competitor to most 2020 Android smartphones. It’s clear from every angle that the S10 is not the latest from Samsung, but it remains a powerhouse.
However, this depends on how badly you want the S20’s as it packs a 120Hz display, Snapdragon 865 chipset, 4000mAh battery capacity, among many others. Due to the pandemic, not everyone can afford to get one of the newest S20 when you can save nearly a quarter of S20’s retail price and get yourself one of last year’s S10. Even with that, the S10 still remains one of the most premium Android smartphones money can buy. Below is our full verdict and review of the Galaxy S10 along with its current price in Nigeria.

Samsung Galaxy S10: Design and Build-up
The Samsung Galaxy S10 is just normal like every other Android smartphone apart from the punch-hole cutout that’s on the top right corner of the device. This is not bad, but if you’re looking for a more innovative attractive smartphone, then you should spend more and get the latest Samsung Z Fold 2.
The Galaxy S10 has the same dimensions as Apple’s iPhone 11, but a bit lighter. The S10 is more of a phablet and won’t be comfortable for one-hand operation for those with petite paws, but the S10e is smaller and even cheaper, but won’t have all the high-end features of the flagship Galaxy S10.
The tiny aluminum frame is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 with the back coming in tons of color options of Prism Black, Prism Green, Prism Blue, Canary Yellow, Flamingo Pink, Cardinal Red, Smoke Blue, and Prism White.
There’s a rectangular camera bump on the rear panel housing the triple-lens camera array. The S10 camera module is clean and the best among other camera bumps in Samsung handsets. Unfortunately, we saw no sign of Samsung’s usual wireless charging module below the camera bump making us doubt whether the S10 is wireless charging capable or rather sensitive.
Possibly, the best feature of the S10’s design is its small size. The Samsung Galaxy S10 measures 149.9 x 70.4 x 7.8mm and will feel comfortable depending on the size of your palms. The S10 screen pixels spill over the sides giving it a curved screen edge view and thereby making the phone narrower.
Also, this phone comes with an in-display optical fingerprint sensor which Samsung has been using up to the Galaxy S7. This is a big advantage as most top Android phones feature either a rear-facing or side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Moreover, Samsung deployed Qualcomm-backed tech that’s more secure and better which will work whether your fingers are wet or cold.
Like other Samsung Galaxy S models, the S10 features an IP68 rated water-resistant, meaning it can survive up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) in depth water for 30 minutes. This earns the S10 a top list among the best waterproof phones.

Samsung Galaxy S10: Display
Almost all Android phones have eliminated bezels by adding a display that cut down from the top of the device to show the selfie camera. Instead, Samsung avoided this popular trend but instead opt for a unique Infinity-O display that embeds a punch-hole cutout notch that disguises the front camera. You can choose to make the punch-hole camera almost invisible by using Samsung’s cleverly designed wallpapers.
The 6.1-inches Dynamic AMOLED display looks better and features the best accurate color reproduction on any Samsung smartphone ever. Amazingly, the phone’s display defaults to Full HD+ which will be a clear advantage to the gaming and movie lovers for a wider viewing experience. The 1440 x 3040 pixels resolutions creates up to 550ppi pixel density which will ensure that everything is clear and well detailed.
Samsung Galaxy S10: Camera Review
Samsung wants you to enjoy and remember every moment of your life by allowing you to take photos at any angle with the triple camera lens of the 12-MP main camera, another 12-MP telephoto lens, and a 16-MP ultra-wide lens. The Galaxy S10 comes with a LED flash that’ll help brighten up the photo when taken in a low light environment.
The S10 triple rear camera captures excellent photos no matter the weather condition. You can choose to properly blur the background of each image after the shot is taken. Samsung also deploys blue filters, zoom, spin, artistic, and many others that are cool looking.
Upfront, we have a single 10-MP selfie camera while you’ll get an additional 8-MP camera lens if you upgrade to the S10 Plus model. However, there’s no much difference between the two cameras as the S10’s single-camera relied mostly on a software app to blur the edges of the photos while the Plus did it better.

Samsung Galaxy S10: Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Galaxy S10 now gets a properly upgraded processor than what we’ve seen on its predecessors. The Samsung Galaxy S10 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset which is very close to Apple’s Bionic processor on the iPhone 11.
Unfortunately, we’ve now got an 8GB of RAM – a serious upgrade over the 4GB RAM that’s on previous models. Meanwhile, we have dual storage options of 128GB or 512GB of inbuilt storage which you can choose to upgrade through the SDcard slot.
Unfortunately, you’re going to miss out on the latest Android 10 operating system as the S10 is equipped with Android 9 Pie with Samsung’s own One UI 2.1 user interface. One unacceptable problem with Samsung is that they usually takes time to update the software on its S series which most times will take close to a year and probably, another software version will be ready by then.
Samsung Galaxy S10: Battery Capacity
Out of the box, the Galaxy S10 is powered by a 3400mAh battery capacity, a slight upgrade over the 3000mAh battery that’s on the S9 model. Meanwhile, the increase in screen size and quality will make the battery duration of the two phones almost the same.
Just like other top Samsung phones, the Galaxy S10 supports wireless charging, but we’ve got a new interesting feature here. Samsung deployed a new charging system called Wireless PowerShare which allows you to use the S10 as a wireless second charger to power other compatible devices. Recent iPhones, Samsung Galaxy Buds and QI wireless compatible phones can be powered by being placed on the rear of the Galaxy S10. The only disadvantage of this Wireless PowerShare is that charging will be slow when compared to normal USB charging.
Samsung Galaxy S10: Price in Nigeria and Availability
Initially, the launch price of the Galaxy S10 is very expensive more than that of the Galaxy S9 before Samsung introduced the S20 series this year. And as a bonus, the price of Galaxy S10 has been reduced – the reason being that a new more attractive successor will have that effect. The Samsung Galaxy S10 is no longer a new device and thus will be available for order and purchase at any major retailers across Nigeria.
Following the Galaxy S10 launch on February 20, 2019 the price is of the Galaxy S10 has slightly slashed down. Samsung is currently offering the 128GB for ₦230,000 ($600) and 512GB model for ₦279,000 ($727). As time goes on, you’ll probably buy the Galaxy S10 for half of its initial launch price, but this shouldn’t be a guarantee for a price cut to you.
