Oppo Find X2 Review: Latest Specifications, Features, and Price in Nigeria

Oppo’s latest Find X2 range has proven to be a hit ever since it’s inception – from the most affordable Find X2 Lite to the premium Find X2 Pro, and the mid-range Find X2 Neo. The standard Find X2 just sits below the Pro version when it comes to specs and price.

Meanwhile, the Oppo Find X2 packs the same screen quality and ports as the OnePlus 8 Pro, but with a different matte finish for a high-quality rear gloss grass. When it comes to design, there’s a little to dislike about Oppo Find X2 other than the rear non-fingerprints resistance. However, the Oppo Find X2 48-MP main camera is a killer with laser auto-focus, phase detection, and image stabilization. While the Find X2 is a very good camera phone, but it isn’t a world-class.

With a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, it’s still a surprise to us how the Find X2 flies, whether in gaming or day-to-day UI swiping. Also, this processor keeps the phone cool, climbing up to 38° when using the 65W charger. While there’s no SDcard slot, you’re covered with up to 256GB standard inbuilt storage. Meanwhile, the absence of headphone jack might be a turn-off for wired audio fans. But does all these features and absence of a headphone jack make the Find X2 a competitive phone to buy?

The answer is Yes. The Oppo Find X2 is equipped with all the necessary features that’ll make a flagship phone – a killer display, decent cameras, and world-class 65W fast charging cuts all edges to make this phone a hit in the market. We’ve done a series of research and spent some time with this phone to know how it compares to other rivals. Here are our full review and the reason why this phone is among the best Android smartphone you can buy this year.

Oppo Find X2 Review: Design and Build-up

While Oppo Find X2 and Oneplus 8 Pro packs similar screen specs and ports, however, Find X2 is more classic when it comes to styling. Meanwhile, the Oppo Find X2 has a broader svelte body with total dimensions of 164.9 x 74.5 x 8mm. Of course, this is a big phone with a large display, so back off if you’re not a fan of big handsets. Meanwhile, Oppo has always followed this tradition of making large-screen products, so bear this in mind if you want a phone that can easily slip into your pocket.

On the front is a Gorilla Glass 6 protection, while the rear panel is covered with Gorilla Glass 5, with both sides perfectly curved to create room for better handling, and a tiny-bezel look. Meanwhile, the Oppo Find X2 sports a 6.7-inches curved display with a borderless design, and an amazing 93.1% screen-to-body ratio. The Find X2 is impressively slim, and sport a punch-hole selfie camera upfront in the left corner that isn’t quite noticeable and doesn’t interrupt the screen’s action.

The Oppo Find X2 buttons are perfectly arranged with the volume rockers placed on the left side, while the power button occupies the right – all easy to reach, fast response, and a great feeling when blindly trying to locate them. Unfortunately, Oppo has adopted the same method of excluding headphone jack like Apple and Samsung. There’s no headphone jack which is a disadvantage for wired audio fans. This also means you’ve to spend additional money to buy wireless Bluetooth headphones or Airpod. Meanwhile, there’s a USB-C port and dual-SIM slot on the bottom, whilst the top corner remains empty.

However, the Find X2 carries an IP54 rated resistance which acts as a protector against splash proofing, dust, but not completely dust & water-resistant as IP64 certified smartphones.

Fortunately, there’s nothing to dislike about the Find X2 design. Yes, it’s reflective rear panel isn’t fingerprints-resistant, but its unique front is enough to act as a makeweight for it. Additionally, the Find X2 ships with a soft-plastic case and pre-fitted screen protector which is a great and profitable value add.

Oppo Find X2 Review: 120Hz AMOLED Display

Undoubtedly, the best features of Oppo Find X2 are its design, screen, fast-charging, and partially – its cameras. The standard Oppo Find X2 benefits from the first three, making it a 6.7-inches AMOLED display with 1440 x 3168 pixels resolution which is among the best you can currently find for this price range.

The Find X2 packs the same DCI-P3 and HDR10+ credentials color profile as the X2 Pro, along with an eye-care technology that’s more noticeable on the Pro model. The screens of these two phones are great with slightly more noticeable blue light flittering than most phones in this price competition. Also, the Oppo Find X2 display brightness climbs up to 800 nits and is perfectly good for both low-light and outdoor viewing.

A 120Hz refresh rate is a great advantage of this phone over competitors when it comes to screen smoothness, significantly better than other pricier smartphones like Sony Xperia 1 II and Apple iPhone 11 Pro. Meanwhile, you can choose to set the refresh rates to either Auto, 60Hz, or 120Hz. Another good thing about this feature is that the Auto can automatically switch between 60Hz, 90Hz, or 120Hz depending on the interface element or app.

Oppo Find X2 Review: Cameras

While on paper, some people might be mistaken and think that the camera quality on Oppo Find X2, Find X2 Pro, and OnePlus 8 Pro are the same after packing 48-MP sensors, but they aren’t.

Whilst the other models pack Sony’s IMX 689 sensor, the Oppo Find X2 features the lower IMX 586 which is the same sensor found on most mid-range phones, including Samsung Galaxy A51, and Xiaomi Redmi Note 9. However, this doesn’t mean that the Find X2 performs averagely, or has a budget-phone camera performance.

Meanwhile, the Oppo Find X2 cameras come with the inclusion of phase detection, image stabilization, and laser auto-focus, along with a wide f/1.7 aperture. Additionally, the primary camera is assisted with a 13-MP telephoto lens with 2× optical zoom, and a 12-MP ultra-wide camera.

The Oppo Find X2 triple rear camera can take good looking photos in well-lighted environments, and even in middling lit-conditions with outstanding wide-range coverage, rich colors, and are well detailed. Photos taken are rich, sharp, and can be cropped with confidence. Meanwhile, lowlight photos taken with the primary and telephoto camera look great, but with a limit. However, the weakest performer is the ultra-wide camera, offering less scope, and having visible noises around the corners.

Oppo Find X2 Review: Specs Performance and Software

With a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, it’s still a surprise to us how the Find X2 will perform without having any lags, whether on gaming or day-to-day UI swapping. The Oppo Find X2 3261 benchmark score puts it on par with Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. This chipset also keeps the phone’s temperature cool, reaching just 38°C when on a 65W charge.

The 12GB of RAM coupled with 256GB of inbuilt storage is the standard variant and the highest configuration. Meanwhile, there’s a lower variant of 8GB of RAM combined with 128GB inbuilt storage. Whilst there’s no SDcard slot, we doubt you’ll still need any external storage after getting up to 256GB internal storage.

The Oppo Find X2 runs on Android 10 on top of Oppo’s ColourOS 7.1 skin. This is extremely clean and doesn’t come with unnecessary preinstalled apps that you’ll find on other Chinese phones like Tecno, Huawei, and Xiaomi.

Oppo Find X2 Review: Battery Capacity

Notwithstanding Oppo Find X2’s high-refresh-rate and big AMOLED display, it’s 4200mAh battery is strong enough to last for a full day comfortably. On our testing, the Oppo Find X2 battery runs down to 8% on our Full HD 90-minute video streaming. Day-to-day use that involves listening to Spotify, photo-taking, WhatsApp messaging, and streaming YouTube contents left us with 30%.

Another good feature of this phone is the 65W fast charging. This boosts the charging speed and would be considered best-in-class wired charging. The Oppo Find X2 was able to power from 0-100% in just 40 minutes. Unfortunately, Oppo Find X2 isn’t wireless charge compatible which is another backslide as most phones in the competition are equipped with this feature.

Oppo Find X2 Review: Price in Nigeria and Availability

Despite being announced in March 2020, the Oppo Find X2 and its Pro model started making waves in the market towards the end of the same year.

Unfortunately, you can’t buy Oppo Find X2 in the U.S due to the government’s restriction on certain Chinese companies including Oppo. Meanwhile, the Oppo Find X2 is available for purchase in other parts of Europe, Africa, and Nigeria. That said the Oppo Find X2 is available in Nigeria presently, and it’ll cost you a cool ₦320,000 (roughly $800).
