Huawei Nova 7i: Latest Price, Full Specifications, Features 2021

Last year, a bunch of new phones were launched by Huawei and they’re looking forward to continuing on that track with the launch of Huawei Nova 7i. This latest Nova device is packed with power and style. The Huawei Nova series are known for having the best flagship features while offering at a cheap price.

While the Nova 7i does not have the latest Kirin 1000 chipset installed, it does come with an efficient Kirin 810 chip that delivers snappy performance. Also, you’ll get an impressive quad-camera array that might be considered the best feature of this smartphone. Other features include a single option of 8GB RAM and 128GB storage with an option to upgrade via a microSD card. We’ve had the Nova 7i for a while now and will be breaking down every feature in this review.

Huawei Nova 7i: Design

Huawei Nova 7i: Design

The Huawei Nova 7i sports the same design as any other mid-range device you’d get for this price. What we love about the Nova 7i’s design is its lightweight – 183g, which is lighter than most phones we’ve ever reviewed. Also, you’ll get body dimensions of 159.2 x 76.3 x 8.7 mm which makes it very comfortable for one-hand operation.

On the rear panel, the Nova 7i is constructed from smooth plastic and wrapped in a very stylish Midnight Black, Crush Green, or Sakura Pink color which exudes a very blonde and minimalistic design. However, there’s no form of light reflection here apart from the subtle curves of light illuminating from its rear. The quad-camera is housed in a square camera bump that doesn’t rattle when placed on a desk.

On the right side of the phone is a power button that has the fingerprint sensor integrated into it, alongside the volume rockers. We love the relocation of the fingerprint sensor from under the screen to the right side of the phone which makes it easier to access as it’s where the thumb normally rests. Meanwhile, on the left is the microSD card which shares the same slot with the SIM cards, meaning you’ll have to sacrifice one of the SIMs to accommodate the SDcard or vice versa.

On the bottom is the USB-C port, accompanied by the speaker grill, and the 3.5mm headphone jack. We love Huawei’s decision to retain the audio jack despite many companies altering it from their devices. This would save you the cash of purchasing a Bluetooth headphone or the stress of searching for a USB-C adapter if you’re a fan of wired earphones.

Overall, we love Huawei’s choice of design on the Nova 7i, having sleek and minimalistic aesthetics with zero frills.

Huawei Nova 7i: Display

Huawei Nova 7i: Display

The Huawei Nova 7i sports a massive 6.4-inch IPS display with a 1080 × 2310 (FHD+) pixels resolution. However, the Nova 7i lacks on either 90Hz or 120Hz smooth refresh rates which don’t matter since it’s a mid-range device. However, you’re getting a 90.6 screen-to-body ratio which means the phone is bezel-less. Also, the edges are well balanced to prevent your palm from mistakenly getting side touches.

Fortunately, the Huawei Nova 7i display looks great, with a good amount of brightness that’ll be comfortable for outdoor operation. However, the color reproduction looks dull on some apps, but they’re great when gaming or streaming videos on Netflix or YouTube.

Huawei Nova 7i: Cameras

Huawei Nova 7i: Cameras

However, the Huawei Nova 7i lacks on Leica or Sony sensors most devices have, but it does a great job in photo processing. The phone’s 48-MP primary shooter handles overexposure more than we expected, with well-balanced lighting. Other camera sensors include an 8-MP ultra-wide sensor, 2-MP macro lens, and 2-MP depth sensor. The 16-MP selfie camera is housed on the dot-hole notch in front of the device.

Huawei equipped the Nova 7i with a night mode that helps in night shots. You can activate this mode by clicking on a button in the camera app’s settings. This takes great photos with enough details and a precise amount of brightness, although you’ll experience some noise in the photo. However, this might lack behind the P30, but it’s capable of taking amazing night shots that are good for social media.

Huawei Nova 7i: Hardware, Performance, and Software

In terms of performance, the Nova 7i is more than efficient to handle all your tasks and games without experiencing any hiccups. The phone’s Kirin 810 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM makes the overall user experience snappy. Fortunately, there are no unnecessary ads that’ll slow down your phone’s activities. Also, the 128GB built-in storage is more than enough to contain all your files and apps. However, you can choose to upgrade the built-in storage via an SDcard which shares the same slot with the SIM card.

When it comes to gaming, gameplay on this phone is immersive and Huawei does a good job by automatically adjusting the brightness so that it won’t strain your eyes after gaming for long. The device handles all kinds of graphics games including Call of Duty, PUGB Mobile, Honkai Impact 3, and many others at the highest graphics resolution without breaking a sweat.

The Huawei Nova 7i is equipped with Android 10 OS and EMUI 10 interface overlay. This UI offers a lot of impressive features including great camera software, sleek UI, lots of customizations, and a growing number of apps in Huawei AppGallery.

Fortunately, the phone despite lacking a Google Play Store comes with its own app Gallery that offers all the essential apps. Interestingly, over 70% of the apps that are on the Google Play Store are also available in the AppGallery.

Huawei Nova 7i: Battery Capacity

In terms of battery capacity, the device is powered by a 4200mAh battery that lasted for more than 24 hours on moderate use. However, if you’re a heavy user, you’ll struggle to get up to 12 hours of screen time. Fortunately, Huawei equipped the phone with a 40W fast charger which will power the phone from empty to 70% in 30 mins.

Huawei Nova 7i: Price in Nigeria and Availability

Undoubtedly, the Huawei Nova 7i is a great all round phone. The handset was launched on January 30, 2020, and has since been available for purchase from verified vendors on, and other leading smartphone outlet in Nigeria.

For a price of ₦115,000 (roughly $320), you’re getting a 6.4-inch display phone with 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage. However, this is the only variant of this phone it’s more than enough for all kinds of tasks. Meanwhile, there’s an SDcard slot where you can choose to upgrade your device’s storage if the inbuilt one isn’t sufficient for you which we doubt.
