The introduction of Huawei P10 continues the company’s push to dominate the camera market with an outstanding Leica dual camera set-up. Huawei P10 Review: Design and Build-up
At first glance, you’ll mistake the Huawei P10 for iPhone 6. It’s a surprise to us how the two phones resemble despite coming from different brands. If you’re a fan of the popular iPhone aesthetics but don’t like iOS or can’t afford to buy it, the Huawei P10 will make a great buy for you.
Despite striking similar iPhone 6 design, most of the design language on Huawei P10 resembles the former Huawei P9. Meanwhile, the Huawei P10 is more comfortable to use, thanks to well-rounded corners that give the device a comfy feeling in the palm.
The power button is indented on the right-hand side of the phone and perfectly separated from the volume rocker so that you won’t confuse the two when the smartphone is in your pocket. Along the bottom edge of the phone sit the 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C port, and single speaker driver. Unlike its competitors, Huawei is retaining the manual headphone jack at least for the meantime, so you can continue enjoying your wired headphone on this device while it lasts.
The rear panel of the phone is a full-metal unibody design just like P9, but this time, there are tons of colors to choose from. Huawei has added dazzling color options of Mystic Silver, Rose Gold, Graphite Black, Dazzling Gold, Dazzling Blue, and Greenery which brings out stunning and reflective metal effect.
The Hyper Diamond-Cut technology makes the Huawei P10 fingerprint resistant which will also make the device look beautiful from afar. The overall design of this phone is great and easy to hold, unlike its competitors.
Huawei P10 Review: Display
A Full HD display on the Huawei P10 is something we never dream of having on the Huawei P10. Unfortunately, Sony showed off its latest 4k resolution smartphone just a day after the Huawei P10 was announced. The Huawei P10 Full HD display lacks behind in the competition to Samsung and LG that offers QHD panels.
Huawei’s refusal to update the screen panel is still unknown to us. However, the P10 isn’t totally bad, but if you want a higher resolution, you can decide to opt for the P10 Plus which offers a QHD resolution panel.
If you’re a type that dislikes having a big screen phone, the Huawei P10 5.1-inches is a good one for you. You can easily reach all corners of your phone without stretching your hands. Above all, the 432 pixels makes the display to be super bright and sharp despite not being a QHD panel.
Huawei P10 Review: Cameras
The Huawei P9 is the first phone from the Chinese company to debut Leica branded rear camera, and it’s now back on the P10. We have almost the same camera set-up as that on the Mate 9, with a 12-MP primary camera working alongside a 20-MP monochrome lens.
The two sensors are always active when taking photos, then combines the two images. The Huawei P10 has a very big improvement over P9 and Mate 9 with its wider and faster camera aperture which brings out brighter photos. The Huawei P10 will best perform when you’re shooting on good lightning. Unfortunately, low-light shots are not as great as the camera struggle to bring out good photos in dark environments.
The camera on the front of the P10 is 8-MP, the same as Huawei P9. It’ll produce lovely shots that are good to be uploaded on social media, but not comparable to 20-MP sensors that are on most Chinese phones.

Huawei P10 Review: Processor Performance and Software
Huawei has retained its own HiSilicon Kirin 960 processor on the P10 which is the same processor we saw on the Mate P9. Here, this chipset is paired with 4GB RAM which is a perfect combo for the smooth flowing of apps and games on the phone. While using this phone, you won’t experience any slow down or app crashes, unlike it’s competitors.
However, if you push the processor beyond its limit by playing high graphics games, the Huawei P10 will handle it but not at the best refresh rate. The Huawei P10 performed perfectly in normal day-to-day use which makes it an ideal smartphone for everyone looking for a device that can handle basic tasks, or running through social media feeds.
The Huawei P10 comes packing one of Google’s best software – Android 7 Nougat. However, Huawei has retained it’s EMUI 5.1 interface on top to offer interesting features and give the OS a different look. By default, all your apps will show on your home screen just like iOS, but you can choose to customize it to your taste.
Huawei P10 Review: Battery Capacity
The Huawei P10 has seen a significantly improved battery capacity compared to its predecessors, but it’s still not great. The Huawei P10 hardly lasts a day despite packing a 3200mAh battery cell. That said, we’re pushing the P10 beyond its limit, but if you’re an average user, you can enjoy the phone’s battery for more than 24 hours.
In the course of our battery test, we played a 90-minute video clip at full brightness and lost only 20% of the phone’s battery. The Huawei P10 also comes with a 22.5W fast charger which makes charging pretty fast. Unfortunately, the Huawei P10 has no wireless charging which is a backslide as most smartphones of this range are adopting this technology.
Huawei P10 Review: Price in Nigeria and Availability
The Huawei P10 is now available for purchase in Nigeria, and it wasn’t a cheap device at launch. At launch, it was originally priced at ₦171,000 ($450), but we’ve now seen the P10 price drop down a lot. Meanwhile, we can expect the price of Huawei P10 to drop down further following the launch of better-upgraded successors – Huawei P20 and Huawei Mate 40 family.
Currently, you can buy any of the P10 variants for ₦92,000 (roughly $241). However, the phone is not available for purchase in the U.S with the reason for its absence not well specified by the Chinese brand.
