Oppo Find X3 Pro: Latest Price Full Specifications, and Features

The Chinese tech giant – Oppo is on a bit of a roll with the launch of Oppo Find X3 Pro. This is a perfect way to start the year for the Shenzhen-headquartered smartphone brand by launching a device with a polished camera tweak that no other phone has done before. Undoubtedly, this is Oppo’s most premium flagship device, bringing in a whole new set of features that could rival the likes of Samsung and Apple.

The original Oppo Find X was launched in 2018 and has since established itself as one of the best in the market. However, the Find X3 Pro is more efficient and conventional, although it retains some of the seamless design aspects of the original. The Find X3 Pro was launched alongside the mid-range ‘Neo’ and low-end ‘Lite’ model. However, there’s no non-Pro model which limits the phone to only three models. Meanwhile, the Oppo Find X3 Pro is nothing short of a well-efficient handset, rivaling the iPhone 12 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra in terms of specifications as well as price.

The Find X3 Pro is the direct successor of Oppo Find X2 that was released in 2020 and sports many upgraded features in some areas. Unfortunately, as the case with most flagship phones, the only drawback of this handset is its hefty price tag. However, if you can look past the galactic price, the Oppo Find X3 Pro would possibly be your best-ever smartphone.

Interestingly, Oppo has once again shown off its display prowess, having a good-looking screen that ensures the photos or videos you capture or stream don’t get compressed, thanks to a new software known as Full-Path Color Management System. However, another key selling point of this phone is its cameras. The iPhone-like noval rear cameras has Sony sensors as its primary and ultra-wide lens. Also, ColorOS with an Android overlay brought a whole new customization options that far surpasses the ‘stock’ Android or other competitors.

Oppo Find X3 Pro: Design

This may sound unpleasant, but we find the Find X2 Pro more attractive than the X3 Pro. The former model sets a new design standard for flagship phones. Sure, that phone sets a high standard, but that doesn’t mean the X3 Pro fall significantly behind.

Our reason is that; the Oppo Find X2 Pro was available in faux leather and has a curved screen that falls on its side edges, including a complimentary two-color design. Unfortunately, the Find X3 Pro lacks all of those design features. However, that doesn’t mean it’s ugly, the X3 Pro still lacks among the most beautifully designed smartphones, but we’d be more complimentary if we got a touch of the X2 Pro’s wonderfully design aesthetics.

The Oppo Find X3 Pro weighs just 193g, meaning it’s fairly light for flagship standard, and that’s quite noticeable when holding it. The device’s 163.6 x 74 x 8.3 mm dimensions are pretty thin compared to most of its rivals. Fortunately, it’s IP68 rated waterproof device, meaning it’s dustproof can survive in-depth water for 30 mins.

The rear panel of the phone is glass, which smoothly curves towards the top corner to form an iPhone-like camera arrangement. This curved rear glass design is a nice one and a perfect introduction to a new design engineering marvel. The phone is available in either Gloss Black, Blue, or White color options.

The Oppo Find X3 Pro has a curved edge screen, but it’s not as steeply angled as its predecessor. The screen failed to extend further and form a perfect ‘waterfall’ edge. This makes the phone not feel very comfortable in the hand, thereby risking it to accidentally falls.

The volume rocker and power button are split between the left and right edge of the phone respectively. This makes it hard to reach comfortably with one hand, meaning you’ll need to use both hands if you’re on the small hand side. Similar to other flagship devices, there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack, making wired headphone fans to rely on the adapter for connection.

Oppo Find X3 Pro: Display

Oppo Find X3 Pro: Display

The 6.7-inch AMOLED Oppo Find X3 Pro comes with a 3216 x 1440 pixels (or QHD+) resolution and 1300 nits of brightness. Interestingly, the screen looked great, with natural colors, and top contrast.

The refresh rate maxes out at 120Hz on paper, but it’s quite unfortunate that you’re allowed to choose between two choices; constant 60Hz or a variable refresh rate that goes between 10Hz and 120Hz depends on what you’re doing. Unfortunately, there’s no pure 120Hz setting, but we found it quite useful as you won’t notice when it’s lower, as it only switches on things that don’t need 120Hz, and helps to minimize battery life too.

Another place Oppo has improved widely is on the Find X3 Pro display. This is a 1-billion-color display, features HDR10+, and shows over 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. As we earlier mentioned, Oppo’s Full-Path Color Management System endures videos you stream, photos you shoot, files you download don’t get too tweaked on the phone’s display.

Oppo Find X3 Pro: Camera Review

Oppo Find X3 Pro: Camera Review

The Oppo Find X3 Pro is equipped with quad cameras: a 50-MP primary shooter, another 50-MP ultra-wide lens, a 13-MP telephoto sensor, and 3-MP microlens snapper. On the front is a 32-MP selfie camera.

As those sensors hint on paper, you’ll find out the main and ultra-wide lens are the same, which we saw in Oppo Reno 5, and was also made by Sony for Oppo. These are fairly big sensor sizes and can see light and color accurately, including taking better photos.

As expected, pictures taken on the main camera look pretty great, colorful, bold, and with enough details. However, pictures are taken at 12.5-MP by default via pixel binning, but you can choose to switch to that 50-MP. Night shots are great too in some settings, especially in a super-dark setting.

Pictures taken with the ultra-wide lens seems similar to the main snapper when it comes to brightness and color. This sensor also functions as a macro lens and performs the job above our expectations. However, the 13-MP telephoto lens seems to be the weak line here – not in performance-wise, but it falls below the periscope lens that’s on the Find X2 Pro. Fortunately, this telephoto lens supports 3× optical, 20× digital zoom, or 5× hybrid.

If you’re wondering what a microlens is, then you’re not alone as this is the first time we’re seeing it on a smartphone. However, it’s a sensor specifically designed to take super-close-up photos of tiny details like textures or fabrics. Interestingly, it comes with a 60× zoom to do it, which is basically a macro camera 11×. To take a photo with this lens (microscope picture), you switch on the mode and put the phone flat on the surface, thereafter, a ring light around the camera will ensure the object is illuminated. Using this, you’ll take clearer shots of towel textures, grains, and many others in an extraordinary level of detail that even the human eye can’t see. 32-MP selfies are great too, with enough detail, and high-resolution.

Oppo Find X3: Hardware, Performance, and Software

As with most of the 2021 flagship devices, the Find X3 Pro has the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, which is the best Android processor currently. As such, this makes the Oppo Find X3 Pro a powerful device with a Geekbench 5 benchmark score of 3257.

You’re getting only a single configuration of 12GB of RAM with the phone, along with a 256GB amount of storage. However, there’s no room for expandable storage, which makes you rely on cloud storage if there’s a need for an upgrade which we doubt.

The Oppo Find X3 Pro is good for high-end gaming, thanks to Adreno 660 GPU and 12GB of RAM. Also, Oppo’s Game Space mode mutes notifications and helps to optimize processing while you’re gaming.

Just like most Android phone brands, Oppo has its custom OS known as ColorOS which sits on top of Google’s operating system. However, the much difference is only in design, although Oppo introduces a whole lot of features to the ColorOS 11.2.

Oppo Find X3: Battery Capacity

Most flagship smartphones like iPhone suffer from mediocre battery lives, but that’s not an issue with the Oppo Find X3 Pro, thanks to a 4500mAh power tank. Fortunately, the phone was able to last for 24 hours on moderate use, but in tons of video recording and gaming, with a pinch of web browsing, it lasted for just 12 hours. However, it seems difficult for the phone to last two full days unless you’re using it only for calls and SMS.

Interestingly, charging is done at a massive speed of 65W, and that seems to be among the fastest we’ve ever seen on a flagship phone. This takes only 40 minutes to charge the phone from empty to a maximum percentage. Also, Oppo is equipped with a smart charging mode which will reveal the time it’ll take the phone to reach 100%, and helps to avoid overcharging which is great for the longevity of the phone’s battery.

Unlike its predecessor, the Find X3 Pro comes with a wireless charging here, at 30W, which is a welcome bonus for wireless charging fans. Also, you can use the phone as a primary dock to wirelessly charge other devices.

Oppo Find X3 Pro: Price in Nigeria and Availability

The Oppo Find X3 Pro was officially announced on March 11 and it’s expected to be released later the same month. However, you can’t buy the phone in the US due to government restrictions, but it can be bought in Nigeria, Australia, UK, and other countries of the world.

The phone costs a whopping ₦585,000 (roughly $1,500), and that makes it one of the most expensive smartphones currently. For this price, you’re getting a device with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage, and that’s the only variant of the phone.
