Infinix Mobile has added new variants into its Hot series – The Infinix Hot 7 and Hot 7 Pro. They’re the direct successor of the Infinix Hot 6. However, the two devices look alike on their design but sport a lot of differences in their specs. However, both phones have decent design and improved processors.

There’s a lot of amazing features Infinix has to offer on this mid-range smartphone, with an upgraded Helio P25 chipset, improved storage options, and camera specs, to a massive 4000mAh battery capacity.

At a very cheap price tag, the Infinix Hot 7 and the Pro model can be compared to the likes of Tecno Spark 3 Pro and Huawei Y6 Prime. We’ll be detailing the full specs, features, and prices of the flagship Infinix Hot 7, and see how they level against each other and which one will make a good buy.

Infinix optioned for a metallic rear panel on the Infinix Hot 7 series and they sports a similar design project pattern to that of Hot 6. The built-up quality of these two phone models is one of the best from Infinix Mobile as at the press time. Infinix also provides a free phone pack in the box to help prevent the smartphones from scratches.

Upfront, we’ve got a wide notch housing the selfie camera and LED flash. On the rear, there’s a camera bump that houses the dual selfie camera on the Infinix Hot 7 Pro and a single camera set-up on the flagship Hot 7. There’s also a rear fingerprint sensor with the Infinix branding logo slightly below it.

Overall, the Infinix Hot 7 series doesn’t look cheap. Unfortunately, they’re bulky and thick with the Hot 7 weighing 166g, contrary to Hot 7 Pro’s 165g weight. Despite it’s 6.2-inches display size, the Infinix Hot 7 and Hot 7 Pro are very comfortable for one-hand operation. Their edges and corners are slightly curved thereby giving them a stylish designer look.

The power buttons and volume rockers are well-positioned behind each other on the right side, whilst the USB port is located at the bottom and the 3.5mm headphone jack on top.

Coming to the display, both phone models sport a 6.2-inches IPS display. The flagship Hot 7 features an 18.9 aspect ratio working at a screen resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and an 83.5% screen-to-body ratio. However, the Hot 7 Pro comes with a 720 × 1520 pixels resolution with a 271 PPI density, 19:9 aspect ratio, and 82.8 screen-to-body ratio.

Although these are not the best display rate and resolution available, they’re surely the best for smartphones of this price tag. For average phone usage, the screen displays will give you the best refresh rate. You can automatically adjust the phone’s brightness depending on the environment condition. Infinix also integrated Eye Care mode to make the smartphones comfortable to use during the night.

However, the Infinix Hot 7 and Hot 7 Pro are not a camera-centric smartphones, but you can take some good shots from the single-camera set-up on the Hot 7 and the dual camera on the Pro model. The flagship Infinix Hot 7 features a 13-MP rear camera along with a LED flash. The selfie camera is tagged at 8-MP which delivers good selfie portraits.

The Infinix Hot 7 Pro is the winner when it comes to camera specs and quality. The smartphone sports a dual rear camera set-up of 13-MP + 2-MP along with a dual-LED flash. You can also take quality selfie photoshoots with the combo 13-MP + 2-MP selfie camera coupled with a LED flash.

Both phones come with interesting features such as an AI camera, HDR, FaceID, AI beauty, and Panorama. The latest Infinix smartphones can shoot 1080p videos @30fps. However, you’ll get more stunning photos when taken outdoors compare to the ones taken indoors. Additionally, the selfie cameras are also great, but you’ll have to adjust the camera settings to get the best out of the phone’s cameras.

The Infinix Hot 7 and Hot 7 Pro sports different processors and software performances. The Infinix Hot 7 is powered by Mediatek MT6580 chipset, coupled with storage options of 1GB + 16GB, 2GB + 32GB, and 4GB + 64GB storage configurations. Contrary to that, the Infinix Hot 7 Pro is powered by a higher MediaTek Mediatek MT6757T Helio P25 chip-set. The Infinix Hot 7 processors are paired with 2GB + 32GB, 3GB + 32GB, and 4GB + 64GB storage options, all of which can be expanded via a dedicated microSDXC slot.


These phones will work perfectly on all angles. Unfortunately, you’ll experience some slowdowns or hanging while handling basic tasks on this Hot 7 series. Switching between open apps will be entirely impossible as the app will have to restart again. You’ll enjoy your favorite mobile games with the PowerVR GE8320 graphics, but that’ll only happen with the exception of high-end games like Asphalt 9, PUBG, etc.

On the software side, the Infinix Hot 7 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo while the Pro version comes with Android 9 Pie. Unlike the Hot 7 Pro, the flagship Hot 7 does not support the 4G LTE network making you struct with the 3G which are sometimes slow depending on your area network service.

On the battery side, these two phone models sports a massive Li-Po 4000mAh non-removable battery. This is one of the few things that make the Hot 7 series stand out from the cloud. Despite offering at a very cheap rate, you’ll get more than 24 hours of active battery life on average usage. Unfortunately, you’re not getting any form of fast charging support, so be prepared and exercise patience until the device fully charge.

The Infinix Hot 7 and Hot 7 Pro were launched in January and March 2019 respectively. They’re one of the cheapest Hot models you can currently buy in Nigeria. The Infinix Hot 7 is sold at a retail price of ₦35,000 ($89), while the Pro model will cost you ₦45,000 ($104).
