iTel P37 Pro Review: Full Features, Specs, and Current Price in Nigeria

iTel Mobile, one of the sub-brands of the Chinese-based Transsion Holding company has once again released a good device in the mid-range segment. The latest iTel P37 Pro is the bigger variant of the original P37 and direct successor to the P36 Pro LTE launched earlier this year. Fortunately, this smartphone despite being affordable covers all the basic features needed on a handset and will be a precise option for fans who love having the best features at a cheap price.

The iTel P37 Pro just like other smartphones from the Chinese company offers decent features that are decent for this price. Undoubtedly, this device just like other P series smartphones is specifically targeted at budget-minded fans. However, you’re getting the biggest screen we’ve ever seen on an iTel smartphone at 6.8-inch with 720 × 1640 pixels resolutions. Other features of the phone include an octa-core 1.6GHz UNISOC SC9863A processor with PowerVR GE8322 as its GPU, 3GB of RAM, 64GB inbuilt storage, and up to 5000mAh battery capacity.

While the iTel P37 Pro runs on Android 10 (Go Edition) out of the box, we’ve reviewed its total specs and leveled it against other mid-rangers in the market.

Design and Display

The latest iTel P37 Pro features one of the best designs we’ve ever seen on iTel smartphones. The body is made from high-quality plastic material with glass upfront. This makes the phone weigh less and paves way for comfy single-hand operation. Similar to iTel A37, there’s a teardrop notch upfront with thick black bezels on the chin. Undoubtedly, this is the same aesthetics we’ve seen on iTel for years now, and feel it needed a change.

The rear panel of the phone sports a rectangular camera bump on the top left corner. Slightly behind it is an easy-to-access fingerprint scanner that unlocks the phone in less than a second. You can buy the iTel P37 Pro in any of the beautiful Gradation Blue, Gradation Sea Blue, and Gradient Green colors.

When it comes to connection ports, the iTel P37 Pro features a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C port, and speaker grills, all perfectly positioned on the down edge. Meanwhile, the power button and volume rockers are housed in the top right corner for easy reach, while the SIM card tray and SDcard slot occupy the left side.

As of display, the P37 Pro has a 6.8-inch IPS LCD panel with 720 x 1640 pixels resolutions. Amazingly, the iTel P37 Pro’s display shows up to 16M colors and has a 20:9 ratio with 254ppi density. This is a pretty large device that’s good for browsing, gaming, or watching videos and it shows vividly with natural colors and a decent maximum brightness level.

Camera, Processor, Software, and Battery Capacity

As for the camera set-up, you’re getting dual sensors in the rear consisting of a 13-MP primary shooter, alongside a 0.3-MP AI sensor. Meanwhile, the teardrop notch in the front houses the 8-MP selfie camera. The iTel P37 Pro takes decent photos in daylight settings, but fails to deliver when it comes to lowlight scenarios. Also, the camera performance is nothing, but below average as we found some of the photos taken less impressive.

On the processor side, the iTel P37 Pro continues to suffer from the same problem of an incompetent processor as its predecessors. The smartphone is equipped with a mediocre UNISOC SC9863A chipset that performs just averagely. However, iTel has decided to upgrade its memory by equipping up to 3GB of RAM, alongside a 64GB built-in storage. Meanwhile, the inbuilt storage can be upgraded via SDcard.

The iTel P37 Pro runs on Google Android 10 (Go Edition) out of the box and supports dual Nano-SIM with a 4G LTE network. Fortunately, the device is powered by a massive 5000mAh battery capacity which can be considered the best feature of this smartphone. However, there’s no fast charging support available which means you’ll spend more time charging the device.
