Oppo Reno 3 Pro – Full Review, Specs, and Price in Nigeria

The Oppo Reno family has always been known for its outstanding designs and cameras. Undoubtedly, the Oppo Reno 3 Pro continues on that approach by bringing in amazing camera features to a unique body.

Oppo, like every other phone brand always desires to build a specification-oriented device that’ll dominate the market. The Reno 3 Pro is equipped with trending flagship features like punch-hole display, quad rear camera set-up, fast charging support, and more, but what makes it amazing is its affordable price tag. Undoubtedly, the Oppo Reno 3 Pro faces competition from both high-end and mid-range phones.

Beyond the camera and form factor is a MediaTek Helio P95 chipset, which though isn’t the best performer, but can comfortably handle moderate tasks effectively. Also, the improved ColorOS 7 interface comes with several customizable options and it’s perfectly paired with Android 10 skin. Fortunately, the Reno 3 Pro battery life is pretty decent, but we’d have preferred to have a bigger cell. However, it’s expected for a phone of this price to has many shortcomings and the Oppo Reno 3 Pro isn’t left out.

Considering the Reno 3 Pro sells at the same price as other flagship devices and offers similar specs, it’s hard to justify the value that Reno 3 Pro brings. Fortunately, we’ve outlined the full review and final verdict about Oppo’s latest Reno 3 Pro handset.

Oppo is widely regarded because of its design prowess and the Reno 3 Pro is in no way different but adds a step higher. At a glance, you’ll mistake the Oppo Reno 3 Pro for Huawei P30 because of its design cues. Amazingly, the Reno 3 Pro has an attractive and glossy design finish with a quad-camera arrangement on the rear and dual-punch upfront.

The plastic back has a deep glossy gradient accentuating the overall look of the phone. Fortunately, one of the Reno 3 Pro’s outstanding design features is its light compact – 175g. This is made possible because of the plastic back cover which shaves off a few grams from the device. Also, it makes it more shatter-resistant if you’re a type that hates using cases.

On the right side of the device is the phone’s power button while the volume keys occupy the left. Fortunately, Oppo equipped a 3.5mm headphone jack on the phone for wired headphone connection, unlike most flagship devices. Also, the built-in speakers can emit pretty loud sounds for audios.

Turning over to the front, the Oppo Reno 3 Pro has a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ (1080 x 2400) resolution. Just like we expected, the bezels were slim and the left and right edges curved a bit for more comfortable handling.

The Super AMOLED panel renders an effective black coverage at all brightness levels. You can comfortably use the Reno 3 Pro under sunlight because of its high peak brightness. Overall, the Oppo Reno 3 Pro display quality looks great, although the contrast comes with over-sharpened colors.

There’s an in-display fingerprint scanner that works effectively with high accuracy and speed. Also, you can choose to use the face unlock feature as another security option at the same time.

Oppo is aiming to take over the market with the Reno 3 Pro’s outstanding cameras. There’s a six-camera arrangement with four at the back and two upfront. On the rear, you’ll find a quad-camera array featuring a 64-MP main sensor, an 8-MP ultra-wide lens, a 13-MP telephoto lens, and a 2-MP depth sensor.

The 64-MP primary shooter with f/1.8 aperture creates rich and beautiful images that are similar to iPhones. Also, it offers a wide dynamic range with details and sharpness well retained, although the contrast is lacking within the photos. However, the Reno 3 Pro does a perfect job by balancing yellow light on your photo and a broad zooming range too.

Similarly, the 8-MP ultra-wide lens creates vividly dynamic images with a great perspective that potentially rivals most flagship device cameras out there. Shooting in natural conditions with great white balance is good too.

The 13-MP telephoto lens with 2× optical zoom struggles to focus on nearby objects sharply, but the results are good for social media upload. Fortunately, there are lots of details with an over-sharpening effect that assists the camera software to deliver pretty nice results. Oppo equipped the Reno 3 Pro with EIS effects for shooting videos with software-based stabilization.

On the front panel is a dual punch-hole notch that houses the 44-MP primary selfie shooter, alongside a 2-MP depth sensor. While this is Oppo’s first device to feature double selfie cameras, it’s nothing exceptional. The details and sharpness are below our expectations and the beauty mode makes it worse.

Oppo Reno 3 Pro: Performance and Software

The Oppo Reno 3 Pro is not specifically built for high-demanding tasks. It’s powered by a MediaTek Helio P95 chipset that features AI and camera capabilities but lacks fast performance.

However, you won’t notice any stutter with light usages like browsing the internet or social media, but we found a slow response when we tried multitasking on the device. Meanwhile, gaming is ok overall with a decent performance. However, graphics-intense games like Call of Duty, PUGB, Asphalt 9, and many others take a longer time to load than expected and must run at the lowest graphics setting.

The Reno 3 Pro runs on Android 10 software with Oppo ColorOS 7 overlay. The ColorOS interface brings much-needed improvements with a good user experience. However, it still ranks below stock Android but it’s moving in the right direction, unlike the previous model.

Oppo Reno 3 Pro: Battery Capacity

The 4,025mAh battery capacity on the Oppo Reno 3 Pro is quite decent and will last you only for a day if you’re a moderate user. However, with more conservative use, be ready to connect the phone to a charger frequently especially after long hours of gaming.

Fortunately, the Reno 3 Pro supports the latest 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0. This will comfortably power the device from 0 to 100% in just 60 minutes.

Oppo Reno 3 Pro: Price in Nigeria and Availability

The Oppo Reno 3 Pro is currently priced at ₦165,000 (roughly $433) in Nigeria and is available in triple color options of Auroral Blue, Midnight Black, and Sky White. Although there are dual RAM options, it’s available in Nigeria in just an 8GB variant, but with two storage options of 128GB and 256GB.
